PTK Offers Student-to-Student Mentoring

Because students are facing unprecedented difficulties due to the pandemic, BCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) has launched Student2Student, a virtual support group and chatroom open to all students.
Meeting several times throughout the semester, Student2Student is a place where students can meet and talk about adjusting to virtual learning, transferring to Brookdale, or anything else that may be on their minds.
PTK knows that many students are seeking advice and companionship during these unusual times. Whether a student is feeling the loss of social interaction, looking for advice for resources at Brookdale, or coping with pandemic-related stresses, the student mentors are there for them.
Students are reminded that the PTK student mentors do not have any counseling or therapy experience, and this program is not meant to take the place of professional counseling. However, student mentors are ready to direct their peers to available resources, lend an ear, and create a community and connection at Brookdale.
PTK student mentors will be available twice monthly and may add additional sessions as needed. The first meeting was Oct. 5. Upcoming sessions are 11:45 a.m. Oct. 22, Nov. 19, Dec. 17, and 7 p.m. Nov. 2 and Nov. 30. To join a session, students can visit brookdalecc.zoom.us/j/92978517965.
