At Brookdale, the Collage is a student-run magazine that gathers art from Brookdale students, compiles and publishes it in their annual print publication.
“Collage allows me to not only meet students who put their energy into their art and craft, but it allows me to put their work on display,” said Keelin Fedor, a 21-year-old multimedia production student from Monroe Township, who is the Collage club’s social media manager.
Led by President Ezekiel Riordan, a 22-year-old graphic design major from Millstone and vice president Laura Garces, a 20-year-old graphic design major from Howell, the club meets 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays in LAH 221.
Riordan and Garces both said they joined the club due to an interest in editorial design. Both also like the idea of a student-based magazine and want to make sure it includes a diverse array of artwork.
The Collage goes beyond traditional artwork. Some of the examples of work you can submit include 3D models, written pieces, photographs, etc.
In the future, the Collage will also have a digital copy along with the physical copies, which will be able to display music and better-quality 3D models.
You also do not have to worry about a theme as the themes are decided after all the work is submitted and looked through. If interested students are ever unsure of what to create, they can inspiration from older editions.
Submitting artists do not have to be on the Collage staff or major in an art-related field. Students can submit any work that they do as a hobby.
The deadline for submissions is Dec. 22, and the next Collage will likely be published in April or May and celebrated with a release party.
The Collage will also be showcased at Artistry Unveiled, an event hosted by the CVA in which student artwork is showcased.
