The author who penned “Candelaria,” the best book of 2023 according to USA Today, Vogue.com and HipLatina, will speak at Brookdale 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.
As part of the Carl Calendar Visiting Writers Series, Melissa Lozada-Oliva will read from her novel and take questions at the free event.
Xochitl Gonzalez of “The TODAY Show” said the novel uses “tongue-in-cheek humor and sharp cultural criticism” and is “an unforgettable exploration of identity politics, the zombie apocalypse, and the dangers of wanting to belong at any cost.”
Visiting Writers Series readings are co-sponsored by Student Life & Activities, The Wellness Center and The Center for Transformative Learning.
The event takes place in Navesink III in the Student Life Center.
