Super Bowl LIX will feature some of the brightest stars as the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Caeser’s Superdome in New Orleans. This is the second time in the last three years that the Chiefs and Eagles face each other in a Super Bowl, and the last time resulted in a 38–35 nail–biting win for the Chiefs.
This year however is a more dynamic Eagles team than the one that the Chiefs faced in 2023. Vegas seems to believe this game will be just as good as the Chiefs are currently listed as a 1–point favorite to win. If this holds true, the Chiefs will win their third Super Bowl in a row marking a high point for this modern dynasty.
The Chiefs are now reminiscent of the 2000s and 2010s New England Patriot dynasty, as once very adored players became hated upon success. Patrick Mahomes is the modern–day Tom Brady in categories such as clutch, accuracy, and if you have scrolled on X recently, getting favorable calls from refs in the same way prime Brady did.
The truth is, they are just all–time great winners. We are witnessing history and should appreciate it while it is right in front of us. Success at the rate the Chiefs have had over the last eight years is nothing short of remarkable and should be applauded.
A third Super Bowl in a row two Sundays from now would make it the first time in NFL history that a three–peat took place. The Chiefs have beat the Texans and the Bills in route to New Orleans. The games showcased both ways they can win, as in the Texans game the defense looked elite, and the offense simply made the plays when they needed to. In the 29–32 shootout against the Bills the Chiefs offense scored at will and the defense seemed to make a play in the most crucial times.
Situational greatness is a telltale sign of great coaching. Head Coach Andy Reid and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo have plaques in Canton, Ohio’s Pro Football Hall of Fame whenever they elect to finish their careers. With that being said they have a tough task on their hands with the star–studded Eagles.
The Philadelphia Eagles dawn one of the most talented rosters in recent memory. Six all pros is
incredible, and they seem to all play harder as the weather has gotten colder. This team is led by
former New York Giant, running back Saquon Barkley, who will be named the NFL Offensive
Player of the Year.
Barkley has taken this offense and rushing attack to a new level. This has opened space downfield for the Eagles great receiving threats AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has simply played his role and has done it well behind his two all pro tackles, Lane Johnson and Jordan Malaita.
If that wasn’t enough, consider that the Eagles also have the best defense in the sport, allowing less than 18 points per game. Head Coach, Nick Sirianni, Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore, and Defensive Coordinator Vic Vangio are all critisized for not being able to win a big game. They will have a very fair chance to do so on Feb. 9.
Brookdale already has its picks in and at least four students believe the Chief will clinch it. Anthony Capuano, an 18–year–old criminal justice major from Keyport, predicts a 31–27 Chiefs win, while Alana Pytel, an 18–year–old political science major from Marlboro, agrees the Chiefs will win but predicts a 35–28 final score. Jason Molloy, 18 from Union Beach, and Will Burke, 18 from Hazlet, agree predicting a 24–20 Chiefs win. Ava Martini, 18 from Little Silver, however, dropped a popular sentiment from a lot of NFL fans, “Chiefs are winning because it’s rigged, and Taylor Swift pays the refs.”
If Brookdale knows ball, then the Chiefs will have made history and cemented themselves as the greatest three–year window of a dynasty in football history.
