Given the current issues surrounding immigration and deportation, The Current, bcccurrent.com, wishes to support DACA students and other immigrants by sharing their stories.

We know how valuable it can be to find comfort in shared experiences. These stories, which can be shared anonymously, will create a safe space for conversations about overcoming hardship and excelling as a Brookdale student. Additionally, this initiative could help non-immigrant students gain a deeper understanding of the challenges that drive people to seek a future in the U.S.

This platform is a place where people can share their stories and experiences without fear. It can be anonymous to ensure everyone feels safe.

Students are encouraged to submit personal stories (essays, autobiographical pieces, non-fiction stories, short stories, poems, and artwork (pencil and paint drawings), music, and recorded dance, in addition to any other type of artistic expression.

The series is titled “Voices Unseen” to reflect the anonymity aspect.

This is a student-led initiative to support and uplift immigrant voices.
