“It’s a showcase of all personalities from across the world,” said Lucy Wadych-Ketley, assistant director of the International Education Center, discussing Tuesday’s International Festival, which will take place 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Navesink rooms, upper level of the SLC.
The festival celebrates multiculturalism with an array of different arts and crafting styles and with up to over 100 hundred people either attending or performing. The event also promises about 20 display tables representing various cultures from around the globe and plenty of food, dance and music.
“Courtney Dean, who is a part of the Epicurean club, will be organizing a food table that is centered culturally around China and providing demos on how to make sushi,” Wadych-Ketley said.
“We host the International Festival every year, and every year, I feel as if it gets better and better. I think what I enjoy about being the director of the festival is watching students, guests, anybody coming immerse themselves in the festival and what people participating have to offer as well,” she said.
The International Festival’s goal is to spread more cultural awareness while also letting people try, experience and learn about regions that may have never crossed their mind or horizon.
“We are hoping to get more people to come than last year. I believe last year, we had about 100 people show up. We only want more to continue to show up and show out. The participation would really mean a lot to this organization.”
