What is Middle States Self-Study?
Hello, BCC students! This is the first article in what we hope will be a series describing the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Self-Study process. The MSCHE is an organization that accredits our college. Think of it as a quality check to ensure BCC is doing its best to meet high standards for academic quality, student support and institutional effectiveness.
Every eight years, we go through a process called Self-Study. The Self-Study process provides BCC with an opportunity to reflect on what the college is doing well while identifying opportunities for improvement and growth.
Why does this matter to you? Accreditation affects things like Brookdale’s ability to receive financial aid, whether your credits will transfer to other schools, and potentially how employers view your degree. In short, it’s a big deal.
Now for the exciting part: students will have opportunities to be part of the process and share their perspectives. Your voice can help shape the future of our college. Stay tuned!
