The WILL (Women in Learning and Leadership) Academic Program and WILL Student Organization will host a Zoom webinar called “NJ Communities in Coalition: Stop AAPI (Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders) Hate” 7 p.m. Thursday, April 22.
The webinar will feature a panel of advocates, allies and student leaders from Brookdale and other New Jersey colleges coming together to discuss the increase in anti-AAPI violence and hate crimes. The goal of the webinar is to get people together to talk, share experiences, and come up with strategies to stop AAPI hate and create positive changes that will benefit future generations of AAPI. You can register for the webinar through this link.
Professor Roseanne Alvarez, a Brookdale English professor and the adviser of the WILL Program and WILL Student Organization, has worked with Linda Truong to organize a GoFundMe fundraiser for an organization called Asians Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta (AAAJ-Atlanta). Please feel free to donate money leading to and during the event because every donation makes a difference in protecting the civil and human rights of Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and Asian Americans in the Southeast. You can view the fundraiser through this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/will-bcc-stop-aapi-hate-call-to-action?utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_source=customer.
If you are passionate about catalyzing changes to stop the spread of AAPI hate would like to represent your organization or participate in the webinar, you can contact Linda Truong at [email protected] or Professor Alvarez at [email protected]. We hope you consider attending this event because it is important for us to work together in creating a safer environment for the AAPI community and future generations.
