PHOTOS: Denise Lance of Woodbridge, certified in ReikI, Raindrop Technique, and body psychotherapy, demonstrates how to use essential oils at Brookdale on March 31. During the session, she educates students on the healing powers that essential oils hold. They can help students cope with many issues from stress and muscle tension to digestive discomfort.
Liberal arts student, Alyssa Chierchia, 19, of Matawan mixes essential oils together to create her scent of choice. She is adding water into her spray bottle in order to dilute the essential oils.

Each essential oil serves the body and mind a different purpose. For example, lavender and ylang ylang promote sleep and relaxation, lemon and orange help fight stress and anxiety, and peppermint aids digestion.
