Students can learn about voting rights, the environmental crisis and civility in an “uncivil time” during a Civil Engagement Conference, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, that promises to “make learning come to life,” accordeing to event host Professor Jonathan Moschberger.
“This event is going to enhance our students’ educational experience,” Moschberger said. “They will have firsthand encounters by hearing directly from key players in the political arena and beyond. We have many special guests from various fields already lined up to speak.”
Among the prominent speakers will be former Gov. Christie Todd Whitman, who has also served as administrator for the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).
Four panels will discuss important issues of the day, including “Civic Engagement: Empowering Young Voters,” “Civility in an Uncivil Time,” “Our Precious Environment in Crisis,” and “Young Professionals Panel: Engagement in Action.”
