As the semester comes to an end, many Brookdale clubs are discussing plans for the end of the semester, the start of the next one and what to expect in between. The Current is also taking part in these discussion with the last meeting focusing on the future on the school newspaper.
The Tuesday, April 22, meeting had a significant turnout with no empty chairs in the room.
“I like knowing the general direction of where the club is going. At the meeting, I was asked to be the sports editor, which will be fun next semester,” said Nicholas Dowd, a 19-year-old journalism student and Current staff writer. “I’m sure being at these meetings has helped me.”
As the group planned the April 29 edition, members discussed spring-themed stories as well as the possibility of a graduating member seeking a position on Brookdale’s Board of Trustees. Each year BCC students elect a graduating student to serve a one-year term with the school’s governing body.

“It’s not for me. It’d be cool to see someone from our club up there,” said Michael Mayhew, a 22-year-old journalism student and staff writer. In the end, none of the members decided to seek the position.
The budget for The Current was also a primary topic as members attempted to allocate the remaining funds in resources such as notebooks, pens, or even business cards.
Though the semester is shortly coming to a close its evident The Current is ready to go into a new semester featuring new voices, new topics and fresh ideas.
