Twice a year, the streets of New York City become filled with people anxiously excited to see the new and upcoming collections that will be available as part of New York Fashion Week.
There, the runways are a great opportunity for buyers to find new pieces. Press and media to get new material, and the public to capture a classic New York experience.
From Sept. 11 to Sept. 16, designers showcased their pieces for the spring/summer collection. And come February, they will be revealing their winter/fall collections.
New York City is a major city for fashion both worldwide and here in the States with many fashion colleges in the area. Schools include the Fashion Institute of Technology and LIM, which has a partnership with Brookdale.
Those who experience New York Fashion Week are generally invited by designers or a public relations firm. However, some tickets available for the public to purchase.
“This was my first time!! I was able to purchase tickets, and I’ve always wanted to go so it was super exciting!!” said Gabrielle Siegel, a 20-year-old fashion merchandising student.
“I see myself working in fashion hopefully as a buyer in NYC,” Siegel said. “This experience was helpful in seeing how buyers can choose items to put in a store and scout new designers to add to their inventory.”
