On Thursday, Oct. 16, the Nectar Club held a special event at the Caroline Huber Holistic Wellness Center showcasing the healing remedy of nature.
Club President Ailton Alanya welcomed those who gathered to the program and explained how the Nectar Club is designed to offer students a sense of peace while introducing them to the beauty of nature, and particularly flowers.
Alanya spoke in front of a display of four outfits. He talked about how one represented childhood and another recreated Princess Diana’s revenge dress. This dress, he said, represents perserverance, self identity and development.
Alumna Isabel Shaw spoke about the next two dresses, which were designed by her late daughter, Jessica, who graduated Brookdale as a fashion major before going on to medical school.
Shaw told the audience that she returned to college and graduated as an Outstanding Student last May to honor her daughter’s memory following her death in a tragic car accident.
The Nectar Club offers students a place to connect with one another, nature and kindness.
Following the presentation, students were given the opportunity to arrange floral bouquets and bring them home or give them to others.
