Bigotry is bad. Hopefully that is not a controversial opinion, but in modern society, it’s important to be clear.
Despite bigotry being bad, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen; racism, sexism, homophobia, the list goes on. People all over the world, even right here at Brookdale, experience stigma on a daily basis.
In collaboration with the Writing Center, Wellness Center and Nectar Club, The Psychology & Human Services Club hosts a Stigma Free Speaker Series through which they invite students, alumni, and mental health professionals to have “Real Talk” about the stigma surrounding mental health. Together, both sharers and listeners help create a safe space for understanding, empathy, and connection.
Sponsored by Student Life and Activities, the third and final lecture for this semester will be about how to maintain love in the face of hatred. The program will begin 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, in MAN 100. Click Here to Register
