Students who have questions, concerns, complaints, or even compliments, are invited to attend this semester’s Student Speak Out 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, in the Navesink rooms of the Student Life Center.
“The Student Speak Out is an event that the Student Life Board holds every semester,” said Jocelyn Fajardo, the vice president of the Student Life Board. “We invite anyone in charge of any department– advising, financial aid– anyone in charge of anything to do with student academics, student activities, student services, anything like that.”
The event aims to create a platform for Brookdale students to voice concerns, raise awareness, or simply comment on aspects of student life they feel deserve attention.
“[Brookdale staff] basically get lined up in a panel and students are given the opportunity to discuss any feedback that they have, what they like; what they don’t like. It gives them a chance to proactively change what they want to see [changed] and be able to speak about their own experiences,” Fajardo said.
Students who are uncomfortable speaking in front of an audience are still able to voice their comments or concerns using an online form published by the Student Life Board.
“In the past it’s been things like facilities, to advising, to academic areas, and maybe some services on campus, such as; student life and activities, financial aid, or EOF. Anything that students have positive feedback or questions and concerns about,” Student Life and Activities Director Lauren Brutsman said.
